Terms of service
The deal.
Plain terms for using CINDER. Using the app means you agree to them.
What CINDER is
CINDER trains mental skills for distance running — focus, self-talk, composure under load, discomfort tolerance — through video lessons, drills, and field work you carry out on your own runs.
What CINDER is not
This is sport performance education. It is not medical care, not psychotherapy, and not a diagnosis or treatment for any condition. Depression, anxiety, disordered eating, and anything else that follows you off the run need proper care from your doctor or a qualified sports psychologist. Nothing in the app should delay you seeking that.
Nothing here is coaching advice about your physical training either. The field work asks you to practise a mental skill on a run you were already going to do. You decide what is safe for your body on any given day, and you should stop if something hurts in the way injuries hurt.
Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission to use CINDER, and they agree to these terms on your behalf.
Posting in the club is closed to accounts under 16 until we ship a parent or guardian confirmation step. Under-16 accounts can read the club and use everything else.
Your account
Keep your password to yourself, give us an email address you actually control, and tell us at cindermentaltraining@gmail.com if you think someone else is in your account. You are responsible for what happens under it.
One account per person. Do not share logins, and do not use someone else's.
What it costs
CINDER is currently free while in beta. If we introduce paid plans we will say so clearly before anything is charged, and paid terms — price, renewal, cancellation, refunds — will be published here first. You will never be charged without agreeing to it.
Your content
Your logbook entries, drill answers, and club posts stay yours. You give us the permission we need to store and display them so the product works — showing your log back to you, and showing your club posts to other members of the club.
We do not use your logbook to train models, we do not publish it, and we do not show it to other runners.
Club rules
The club works because runners are decent to each other. Keep posts under 500 characters, keep them about running, and:
- No harassment, abuse, or targeting another runner.
- No slurs or hateful content. A language filter blocks the obvious cases on the way in.
- No medical, dietary, or weight advice. That is exactly the ground where amateur advice does harm.
- No promotion of disordered eating or unsafe training, and no spam or advertising.
- No sharing anyone else's private information.
Every post has a report button. We can remove posts and suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and we do not owe a warning first where the content is serious.
Fair use of the service
Do not try to break, overload, or reverse engineer the app, scrape the course content, resell access, or use automated tools against it. The lessons, drills, and written content are ours and are not licensed for redistribution.
Ending it
You can delete your account whenever you like, in Settings — it takes effect immediately. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other runners at risk. If we close yours without cause, you can still export your data.
No guarantees about results
Mental skills training is well supported by sport psychology research, and it is still training: it works if you do the reps, and it does not promise you a personal best, a place, or any particular race outcome. We provide the app as it is, without warranties beyond those the law will not let us exclude.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for lost race performance, or for injury arising from training decisions you make. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is capped at the greater of what you have paid us in the past twelve months or US$100.
Changes
We will post changes here and, when they matter, tell you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use CINDER after that means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes go to the state and federal courts located in Spokane County, Washington. If you are a consumer, this does not take away rights you have under the law where you live.
